SCRAP SHOTZ December Kit Reveal

Hello and thanks for stopping to see the projects I created for the Scrap Shotz December14 kit :).

This kit features the fabulous Merry and Bright line by Pink Paislee. The add-ons FLEW off the shelves but no worries if you didn't get in on any, the kit is PACKED full of product!

This is one of my favorite Christmas lines this year and provided the motivation I needed to scrapbook my Christmas photos from last year!

The leaf border is an Elizabeth Crafts die(wreath builder) and the pointsettia flower is a Tim Holtz die(tattered pointsettia). I added some touches of silver with the Viva Decor Pearl Pen and red Kaisercraft pearls.

I wish you could see the sparkle on the white die cuts, they are beautiful! To create the title I inked a Tim Holtz shadow press folder with Barn Door distress ink and then ran it through my Vagabond. I embellished the die cuts with red Kaisercraft pearls.

I can not look at Christmas paper without whipping up a couple of Christmas cards or more ;). These are super simple with the die cuts being the star.
To create the card on the left I stamped the tree from the Taylored Expressions Sparkle and Cheer stamp set with embossing ink, covered with gold detail embossing powder and heat set. The banner was created in the same manner but with the kit stamp. The star on the top of the tree is wood veneer from a previous SSZ kit with a glitter star Elizabeth Crafts sticker on top.
The "peace love and joy" sentiment on the right card is one of the kit die cuts so if you need a last minute handmade card, this kit has LOTS of die cuts to make it easy!

Although this is a Christmas themed layout you can see that 2 of the 3 patterns in the papers could be used for any layout topic. The little flag banner along the bottom of photo are stickers included in this kit. I used my Martha Steward snowflake punch on red glitter card stock for the sparkly snowflakes :).

While this photo is of my youngest in front of the Christmas tree, the layout is about him being our belated Christmas gift as his birthday is a few days after Christmas. When I saw the "special delivery" sticker in the kit I knew I wanted to use it for a layout about his birthday. Those white and silver alphas and silver numbers are included in the kit too.

Thanks for stopping in and head to the Scrap Shotz gallery to see what the rest of the team created. Also, feel free to pop in to the Scrap Shotz forum, check out our December Creative Team challenges or just say hi!

**New** SOUS Project Life Challenge

Welcome to the latest and also the last Project Life Challenge from Stuck On U Sketches

WOODGRAIN

Here's my week 34 Project Life layout:

You can't tell by the photo but the white 4x6 card is woodgrain card stock. I've also used a strip of woodgrain paper behind the 34 and created a 3x4 filler card with woodgrain paper as well.

Thank you so much for stopping by and thank you to SOUS for all the PL challenges! Although the challenges will not continue, I will still be working on my 2014 version of Project Life and posting the pages here. I hope you'll continue to pop in and check out my PL.

**New Stuck On U Sketches Project Life Challenge**

The current SOUS  Project Life challenge is....PLAID

I had a mild panic attack as I thought I had NO plaid but a short flip through only one of my 6 paper holders yielded a number of plaid options.

This page is the 2nd of a two page spread for week 33 so I chose this plaid with blue as it matches the blue letters I used on the facing page.

As plaid is a strong pattern I didn't want to overwhelm the photos with it so I used a 4x6 card as the title card and then punched a few circles which I placed on a solid colour of card stock and voila!!
Another page done!

Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to see your take on the Project Life Challenge so link up your layout at Stuck On U Sketches.

**New SOUS** Project Life Challenge

Hello Everyone!
So glad to have you stop by for the latest Stuck On U Sketches Project Life challenge:

I must admit I was feeling a bit challenged with this, thinking these are Halloween colours but I would be using them for summer photos.

As you can see see I opted to use charcoal instead of black, lots of white elements and a happy orange with a small touch of sky blue so this page feels bright and not theme-y.

Remember with a challenge of any kind, you can interpret it in a way that works for you, especially with a colour challenge, there are many different shades of these colours you can use to make them fit with your photos.

Please link us up with your take on this challenge over at Stuck On U Sketches, thanks for stopping by!

There are so many ways to incorporate this challenge in to your Project Life spread or if you're like me and were a bit shy on the photos for the week, it gave me a great jumping off point to fill my pockets ;)).
One of my favourite techniques is heat embossing and so I pulled out a couple of stamps and embossing ink and powder to add metallic gold to this spread. I stamped 'hello life' and 'the facts', both Ali Edwards stamps for Technique Tuesday and gold heat embossed. The 4x6 sheet with 'the facts' embossed is a snippet of one of my "to-do" lists.
Here's a close up of the 'hello life' card which is a 3x4 Project Life blank card that I stamped with embossing ink then covered with gold detailed embossing powder and heat set.

The top and bottom right pockets contain cuts from WRMK Metallic Sheets. The top left card was cut from Studio Calico "All that Glitters" paper. The numbers are Thicker Chit Chat glitter letter stickers, small alphas/numbers are Teresa Collins Basically Essential Alpha Stickers.

That's my PL layout for this challenge, I hope you'll join myself and the entire SOUS Project Life Design Team in this challenge! I'm looking forward to reading your comments and feel free to ask any questions regarding my process or layout as well!!

Creative Big Blog Tour Nomination!!!

Hello!
I am a bit late with this post as it slipped my mind...I am thrilled to be nominated by my fellow Stuck On U Sketches Design Team member Caroleanne Wright at http://theprettypaperpatisserie.blogspot.ca as a Creative Blogger! Caroleanne says it best as follows:

We are joining up as a chain of fun blog hop tours, where we will get to meet new bloggers, get new inspiration and connect with blogs that will open up our creativity.
This blog hop is sure to be a great inspiration.
I hope you hop along with us.

1. What am I working on?
Right now I am editing photos and printing for Project Life layouts.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
Most of work focuses on "everyday life". I always seem to forget my camera for the special events.

3. Why do I create what I do?
I have such a bad memory that I don't recall much about my childhood. I want my kids to be able to look back on their childhood and have answers for them when they want to know what they were like when they were little.

4. How does my creative process work?
I generally start with the photos and/or a particular story I want to tell. I then choose papers that will fit the colours/mood of the photos and add embellishments after that. I handwrite my journaling 99.9999% of the time and try to include at least a couple of sentences on every layout.

Now I get to make a nomination and it's...

Tammy Lever at http://tampatha.wordpress.com . Tammy is a very creative gal on a number of design teams and we met over at Scrap Shotz an online store/community. She has some lovely projects on her blog so make sure you check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

**New** Stuck On U Sketches Project Life Challenge!

Hello and welcome to the latest Project Life Challenge from SOUS:

and here is my page:

you can see I've used twin in a couple of places, one as a border around a note my son brought home from kindergarten and the second on my "title" card for the page itself. You can see I only had one photo from the week so the note from my son and an info letter for my other son became part of this page to fill in.

Participate in this challenge or any of the other SOUS challenges for a chance to win a prize from our August Sponsor

**New**Project Life Challenge from Stuck On U Sketches!!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the latest SOUS Project Life challenge. This is another fun and easy challenge:

I had lots of quote cards to choose from in my stash but you can make your own as well!

Here is my PL layout:

{Project Life Seafoam Core Kit; Teresa Collins Albums Made Easy for WRMK}

Isn't the 4x6 card sweet? I just love the glittered word! It reads "It's A Wonderful Life".
I was light on photos for this week so I added a tag from an item of clothing I purchased in the far left pocket.

I hope you'll play with this week's challenge as it's a super easy one! Link us up to your project at SOUS and you'll be entered in a draw for this fabulous prize from our August sponsor

**Scrap Shotz Summer Kit Reveal**

Welcome to the Scrap Shotz Summer Kit reveal featuring Indian Summer by WRMK!

This is a gorgeous kit and you can check out the details on the kit and the add ons right here.

I was motivated to break out my steel dies for a couple of cards and for this first card I used the Ray of Sunshine cutting plate by Taylored Expressions trimming the die cut frame in half.

This next card was also created using a Taylored Expressions cutting plate, this time the Proud Peacock plate along with the TE Wispy Wishes stamp set for the sentiment.
The dark brown frame is an Elizabeth Craft Designs Shimmer Sheetz and for the cleanest cut possible you'll need to use a metal adaptor shim.

I wish I could remember the card that inspired this design so I could give it proper credit but I can not recall that info. I love the patterned paper peeking out between the card stock. The butterfly sticker is from the kit sticker sheet and the pearl is from my stash. You could use one of the add on brads in place of the pearl.

I punched out a couple of sizes of circles to go along with this fabulous wood element from the kit that reads "Life is Beautiful". I kept with the circle theme by punching the photo with a circle punch as well. I've misted the patterned paper with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine spray and bordered the paper with twine from The Twinery. The flowers were all created with the Elizabeth Crafts Bunch of Flowers 2 die.

The Proud Peacock cutting plate makes another appearance on this layout as a border on either side of the photo. I've used a few of the remaining pieces from the shimmer sheetz cut used on the card above to fill in some of the negative spaces of the die cut. Those great die cut cards are from the Indian Summer Albums Made Easy cards.

The Scrap Shotz Creative Team was challenged with a showcase theme for this kit instead of a showcase product. I think you can tell by this layout our theme was Summer Fun so I created a layout listing a few of our summer happenings/events so far.

I didn't let any of this kit go to waste as I used the cut out "rays" from the Ray of Sunshine cutting plate and created photo mat corners behind these 2 photos.

I love these Indian Summer alphas, they look just like leather and they are a clean and simple font super easy to use!

Thanks for stopping by, feel free to ask any questions in the comments and swing on by the Scrap Shotz gallery to see what the entire Creative Team has done with this kit!

**New** Stuck On U Sketches Project Life Challenge

Hello and once again welcome to the latest and greatest Stuck On U Sketches PL challenge!

I am loving these challenges, how about you? They get me pulling out items that us scrapbookers have in their stash but don't use as often as we'd like ;)).

This week's challenge is:

I have a button jar in my scrap room and no it's not orphan buttons from clothing it's buttons mostly from scrapbook monthly kits, it's pretty much impossible for me to use them all but I can't bear to throw them out as some of them are so cute!

That's where this week's challenge comes in and here's how I used the buttons:

The bling on the upper left card is a button from my button jar, I glued it to the outside of the pocket with Tombow Mono MultiLiquid Glue. Adhering it to the outside of the page protector keeps the pocket nice and flat in my scrapbook.

I also used some cute shaped buttons as an accent on the journal card and here's a detailed photo of that:

A little side note about this layout, you can see I only had 2 photos for this week so this was the perfect opportunity to include some artwork from my kindergartner, fills out the layout and gives the future reader a great glimpse of this guy's life as a little one.

I would love to see your Project Life spread for this challenge so link us up at SOUS. This will also give you the opportunity to win this wonderful prize package from our very own SOUS Sponsor Coordinator, Helen Gullet!

Thanks for stopping by!

**Scrap Shotz June Kit Reveal**

Yes it is July so I have to apologize for being so slow at getting this up and for the quality of the photos...of course it was a cloudy day when I photo'd these projects.

There may be some June kits left featuring Simple Stories "Good Day Sunshine", I'm not totally certain about that but click this Scrap Shotz link if you're interested in it and check out the June 1 New Products, some new items just went up a few days ago!

Here we go with my Scrap Shotz June kit projects!

This layout was based on our CT sketch. Love being able to get so many photos on it as well as use a bunch of chipboard I might struggle to use in other circumstances :)

These next 6x8 pages are comprised of kit products and a 6x8 Simple Stories album. I plan to document our family's July 2014 in the album and with the kit products.

The base of this layout was misted a long time ago and the kit paint medium was the perfect complement to the misted colour.

This cloud paper is super easy to use, a lovely base for pretty much any photo!

The kit colour medium is a beautiful color, Maya Gold "Petrol". I stamped a background for this card with a wine cork and end of a paper piercer.

This next card was super easy as it is made from a 3x4 cut out from the SS paper, a few enamel dots and Elizabeth Crafts peel off "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

This is a fabulous kit, packed full of products and I have soooo much left to work with and use in my July project!

Thanks for stopping by!
