Altenew Educators "Anything But A Card" Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway

So, so many options for projects for this hop so I went back to my crafty "roots" as a scrapbooker for this 'Anything But A Card' project:

A sketch is a great starting point for a layout and I used this sketch from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, rotating it for the layout:

I inked the upper left side of a white card stock base with the Feathered Leaves stencil, Shadow Creek and Mountain Pine Crisp Dye inks. After inking the stencil I spattered the paper with Altenew Watercolor Brushmarkers in Purple Wine, Mango Smoothie and Cotton Candy.

I then used a dinner plate to trace a half circle shape in two different places on the 12x12 Wildflower Fields paper from the Wildflower 12x 12 paper collection and hand cut the shapes. I adhered the pink half circle directly to the white card stock and then layered the green over top with foam adhesive lining the straight edge up with the edge of the white card stock.

After choosing my photos, and their arrangement, I added them with foam adhesive. I then played around with pieces from the Wildflower Pink Posy Ephemera and Wildflower Bitty Bits Ephemera, trying out different ones until I was happy with my choices. I attached them with foam adhesive, sometimes adding the foam just behind the bloom/buds and using liquid adhesive for the stems. I die cut a couple of leaves with the Mini Flower Cluster Layering Die Set from the Wildflower 6x6 Paper Pack

To finish off the layout I added Antique Gold sequins around the layout and on one of flower centers and also a hand drawn border with the 02 pen from the Altenew Fine Liner Pen Set.

Here's another look at the full layout :)

Do you keep a paper planner? I do off and on and like to add a few crafty touches to my monthly spread at a minimum so this hop theme was perfect!

I stamped these floral images in the corners with a mini-stamp set that I received as a gift from Altenew, you can probably find a similar mini-stamp in the Altenew store. I stamped the image in Permanent Crisp Black ink which is alcohol marker friendly and colored the blooms with R301 Rouge, Y204 Mango Smoothie for the center and G702 Frayed Leaf for the leaves.

I then added some pencil crayon colouring with my Prismacolor Pencils:

I hand wrote June, on a diamond die cut from the Fine Frames Diamond die that was trimmed down, with the brush marker from the Fine Liner Pen Set and backed the letters with a swipe of color with B201 Sea Glass Artist Marker. I also edged the die cut with the same Artist marker, backed it with Gold Mirror Card and then adhered with foam adhesive over the stamped and colored blooms.

I balanced the spread by adhering the gold mirror card stock fine frame in the bottom right of the facing page over the stamped and colored blooms.

I inked a few images from the Watercolor Bouquet stencil on the right and left side pages with Rouge ink along with adding a strip of the lightest color of washi tape from the Tea Party Washi tape bundle.

It didn't take long to add a few decorative touches to my monthly planner spread and this is another way to use your favorite Altenew supplies beyond cardmaking.

Pigment Craft Co.: Celebration Bouquet

I finally found some time to play with the Pigment Craft Co. Celebration Bouquet and Celebration Bouquet fillers stamps.

I stamped and die cut the images with the two sets named above, super easy to use! I then adhered them to a background I created with Distress Oxide inks, my Gel Press and the Altenew Tropical Jungle stamp set.

The sentiment from the Dashing Sentiments stamp and cut with the coordinating die after being stamped and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Lastly, I added some Studio Katia Gold Foil to the flower centres and around the images.

I stamped a few of these blooms with different ink colours and decided to create a background with two of the die cut blooms.

I popped up the die cut blooms with foam adhesive and then layered the Split Sentiments Congratulations die on top. "So happy for you" is stamped and cut with the coordinating from the Celebration Bouquet stamp set.

I added some Studio Katia Clear Drops to the flower centres and the card base. I love how this turned out and I'll be making more of these as this came together easily.

Thanks for stopping in and taking a look!

Fun Times at An Altenew Virtual Workshop

 Hello Crafty Friends,

I recently attended my fellow Altenew Certifed Educator Penny's workshop and it was lots of fun and informative! I never realize it's possible to colour white glitter card stock with alcohol ink, although I chose to die cut my pieces from pre-coloured glitter card stock.

We made three cards with the Hibiscus Garden 3D Die Set and Penny walked us through putting this these layered die cuts together and shared a few tips and tricks along the way.

Here's a closer look at the first card:

I just love all the gold on this card, the gold mirror card stock adds such great shine. I used the sentiment from the Wildflower Garden stamp set and stamped it in Enchanted Gold pigment ink.

This next card is a shaker card, the shaker window is created with the base die cut.

What I really like about this card is that it uses just a few of the die cut layers from the large bloom to add detail to the shaker winder. This was very easy to make.

This is my favourite of the three cards. The sparkle from the glitter paper is so gorgeous in real life. I used glitter papers from Memory Box but Penny showed us how to create custom coloured glitter card stock with white glitter card stock and alcohol inks.

I added a few more flowers than Penny's sample card but I love how this turned out!

I had so much fun putting together these. layered hibiscus flowers I cut a few extra and created a fourth card.

I added some black splatters with Jet Black Watercolor brushmarker and also stamped the sentiment in Enchanted Gold pigment ink.

I so enjoyed this workshop with Penny and look forward to future ones from her.

Thanks for taking a look!

I've had the Teacher's Rule stamp and die set in my stash for a long time but haven't used it in quite awhile so this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

While looking at it, I was thinking the simple image would work well with a "pop art" style and here's an example of what that is :)

and here are my cards:

I pulled out some bright coloured card stock fro my stash and then chose the following Altenew Crisp Dye Inks to stamp the apples, from left to right:

- Sweet Leaf, Hunter Green
- Heartbeat, Vineyard Berry
-Eastern Sky, Azurite
-Pinkalicious, Razzleberry
-Sunkissed, Autumn Blaze

I die cut 5 squares with one of the dies from the Halftone Squares Die Set and then embossed with the following 3D embossing folders:

I edged the sides of the embossed squares and the die cut apples with the brush marker from the Fineliner Pen Set.

This was an easy design to duplicate, I stamped the sentiment in the same place on each colour of card stock with my stamp positioning tool.

I adhered the apples with dimensional (foam) adhesive.

These cards came together very quickly once I had worked out the initial design. I've always appreciated my kids teachers but after online schooling my 13 year old I have an overwhelming appreciation for all that teachers do :).
